Acacia catechu (L. f.) Willd. is a tree in the Fabaceae family.[1]

Acacia catechu var. catechu (Acacia catechu variety catechu) is used to make a brown extract called cutch. The heartwood of the tree is made into wood chips and then boiled with water. The chips are then filtered out and the remaining liquid is boiled down into a more concentrated liquid.

Katha is a solution of myrrh in cutch.
